I must admit I was skeptical that one food could keep my very diverse range of Malawi and Tanganyika Cichlid healthy and without the fuss of using several different foods to make up a complete diet for each species. I was amazed to see a huge difference in color of my breeding males within two weeks. "I recommend Spectrum foods because they constantly produce superior results when compared to other foods. General health, colour and vitality are all enhanced by Spectrum foods.
The foods are highly nutritious, with an optimum balance of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. The colours of the fish are enhanced by this food naturally, rather than by hormones (as with some other foods). As hormones are not used, this food does not ‘over-colour’ fish such as; Discus or Purple Tangs, turning them black.
I have noted an improvement in disease resistance in fish fed with Spectrum foods, especially in the case of Thera A. I highly recommend all my clients feed mainly Thera A for 2 weeks prior and 6 weeks after the introduction of new fish to aquaria. Thera A is a fantastic preventative for parasitic infestations. All foods are very appetizing for the fish.
I particularly like the granulated foods in the Spectrum range. Many aquaria I maintain or provide consultancy for are trickle filtered with weirs, over which flake food would skim before fish could eat it. Also it is more compact and less likely to clump in auto feeders.
I am a strong advocate for using the best quality food available. Spectrum foods can be fed in smaller quantities than most other dried foods (because it is more nutritious). "I have been using New Life Spectrum food consistently for the last 7 years. Though I have tried most available brands, I consider Spectrum the best quality food on the market. I have advised hundreds of my customers to use this food and have never heard negative feedback from anyone that has their fish feeding on it.
Fish generally need smaller amounts of Spectrum than of other foods in order to achieve the same results. This is one of the reasons why tanks where fish are fed exclusively Spectrum have consistently lower nitrate and phosphate levels, and why high loads of fish are able to be kept with less maintenance. Another reason is that Spectrum does not break down and pollute the water as quickly as other brands, and so any initially uneaten food is eaten later by scavenging fish.
Spectrum gives fish impressive colour and great health without the use of hormones, and maintains high water quality. I have seen symptoms of head and lateral line disease reverse and have noticed reduced cases of bloat in fish fed even exclusively Spectrum food.
I have used Spectrum with equally impressive results in all type of fish, from hardy fish like Goldfish, Siamese fighting fish, Tetras, and Cichlids to finicky Tropheus, marine butterflies and Angels. I have found that fish which most people claim are impossible to keep thrive if fed a diet of at least 80% Spectrum food. Though I see value in a varied diet, I still find that the most impressive results are produced where Spectrum is fed exclusively.
Anyone that has fish which must be fed feeder fish will get terrific results if they feed up the feeder fish with Spectrum before they feed them to their predatory fish. However, most predatory fish can also be trained to eat spectrum directly.
I have tried feeding every type of spectrum food to every type of fish and have seen the same results so I don’t believe it is a problem to feed the goldfish formula to even marine fish.

"After hearing feedback from regular customers that use Spectrum (they have been getting amazing results with colour enhancement and general health of their fish), I decided to try it in my home aquarium.
I used Spectrum at home for the period of four months with very positive results. This encouraged me to begin feeding the shop fish on Spectrum as well and I have been receiving comments about the brilliant colours and health of my stock ever since. While using Spectrum I have been able to reduce the amount of food I feed the fish compared to other brands to accomplish the same results. In return this has reduced ammonia build up caused from overfeeding thus improving water quality and resulting in lower stock loss.
Results showed mainly in colourful fish such as Tropicals (eg. Cichlids, Discus, Tetras), however there was a noticeable increase in the health of the native Australian fish such as Bass, Perch and Barramundi. Similar results were found with Marines and Gold Fish.
Spectrum's ingredients are made with what the fish would feed on in their natural environment; Krill, Herring, algae, Spirulina and Mussel, not wheat or fish meal. One of the most important points that I need to identify is that Spectrum foods do not contain any hormones which can harm the fish. I now recommend Spectrum over any other brand.

"After keeping delicate Marines for many years, I was initially very skeptical that a single food could provide the same (let alone better) results than what I was getting with a regime of feeding ‘leading’ brand foods, dietary supplements, fresh algae and live foods.
After using NLS foods on our main display tank for nearly six months the health of our fish is now amazing. Large Angels and other species prone to dietary deficiencies in captivity are as healthy and colourful as wild specimens.
